Bought Me Some Mojo
Many of you know that I have been less than productive in my studio lately. I've been less than thrilled with my sewing machine for awhile now, but there really wasn't money in the budget for a new one and then there was the question of need.
Well, many of you also know that Expo was here at the end of February/beginning of March. Last week on Thursday, I got an email from one of the local sewing machine dealers - it was a mass sales email. They had last year's top of the line demo machines from Expo on a screamin' deal.
I came home and talked to JB. Showed him the add, told him what a great machine it was, and explained again the problems I was having with my current machine. He said - if I needed a trade in to take my back up machine and we agreed that I would have my current machine serviced and then list it for sale.
I was up bright and early Friday morning and was at the dealership 9 minutes after they opened. The saleswoman asked if I needed help and I said "No, I need this" and handed her the print out with the machine circled. Easy as that I purchased a new machine. Unfortunately, they had them all at a central location and I wasn't able to pick it up until after work tonight.
Then I had to get groceries on the way home, put them away and cook dinner. Now I'm sitting on the couch. But the new machine is going to live on the dining room table until after Spring Retreat at the end of March I believe. I wish there was an upstairs room I could move the studio to, but with a machine that works when it's suppose to I'm guessing the desire to sew will be strong.

Ooooo, G! A new sewing machine that will actually work correctly; what a concept. Nothing is more irritating than a sewing machine that misbehaves when you want to use it. I think that may be part of why I never sew. Seems to never fail that my machine develops temperamental tension or bobbin knots every time I want to simply sew a straight line like to fix a hem or a seam. No wonder I don't tackle whole garments anymore.....then again, one gets what one pays for. My machine is a little Sears portable, but why spend more for a machine if you aren't going to use it? It's a Catch 22.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on a new machine. I know you'll love it.
Hey! I just thought i'd pop over since Sue passes the lovely sisterhood award you gave her on to me...and because of your recent comment :D Umm, it's lovely to meet you!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your new sewing machine!
Your Hounds are just beautiful! (we dig the snooter shots!) Our Mum wants a Bloodhound as soon as we have more space...apparently four Beagles just aren't enough for her!
And Beau....I am sorry that I do not have any spare red noses....but if you still want to play along with our silly game of red snooters (which is for an excellent cause) then you can! Visit our bloggy for details of how to get a digital red nose!
Slobbers xx

ReplyDeleteWha!!! Congrats on your new machine!!! New machines are always a hit. I guess I am so out of touch with the newest fanciest these days. Did Viking Husqvarna put out a newer model??? I must have missed it, totally.
ReplyDeleteAnyways, congrats again and happy sewing.
