My New Sewing Companion

Nope - not a new animal!

A new tv.  A giant one.  The one that was in the studio was small - it came out of our bedroom
because we never watched tv there.
So - do you watch tv while you sew?  Or Spin?  Or Knit?
What do you do for background noise?  I can stand the silence when I'm cutting or tracing.
I do find some things are easier to have on in the back ground that anothers.

What is your favorite background while you're crafting?

  1. Congrats on the tv. I knit to movies, or tv, or music, or books on cd. It just depends upon the mood I'm in and what is handy. Movies or tv that you can't look away from without missing something are bad choices for me...but as you're quite a skillful knitter, that might not be a prob for you. :-)

  2. TV. I knit and spin in the great room, with the fur-girls and TV and sometimes the Knight for background noise.

    Of late, I'm watching Charmed...

  3. Congratulations on your new sewing companion! It is a beaut!

For now I sew in my dining room. I turn on the living room tv as much as a timepiece as anything! I do tune it to a channel I enjoy and I listen as I sew. (It makes the nights I'm burning the midnight oil not seem as long too!)

  5. Awesome tele in the craft room! I usually knit and spin in front of the TV on the couch, in our living room. But when I'm sewing, I like to listen to opera music.

  6. Definitely the TV - not only does it talk but it has moving pictures that keep me company!

Congrats on getting the new one!

  7. Yes, I usually have the TV on while I'm sewing and always while I knit or cross stitch. As for cutting, just music will do.

The TV is usually on here anyway for backkground noise and to keep dogs calm.

  8. Definitely music. I get distracted by images, but music keeps me humming (literally and figuratively) along.

  9. NICE! I knit in front of the TV, whatever's on. There's a tiny TV in the sewing room - it's smaller than the computer monitor LOL. Choices while sewing are either Coronation Street or movies (usually a Harry Potter)

  10. I was sure it was another dog based on your title! Nice TV though. I can't watch TV while I'm sewing (at my machine) - I get distracted and want to stop and watch the program. I listen to music when I sew and watch movies or TV when I'm tracing, altering or cutting out patterns.

  11. For me it is our own public radio - but I expect that here in New Zealand (total population 4.3 million) it is very different to what you'd get.

SO happy that you have a decent TV now in your sewing and creating space. (and I just love the dress from your previous post - the colours are so gorgeous on you).

Hope you have a lot of fun sewing and creating down there - I realise it will be under canine supervision times three!!!!

  12. No background. I move around a lot anyway. Ironing in the kitchen, pinning and stitch ripping in the breakfast room, sewing in the homework room, cutting in the dining room. And there are always plenty of people around. Nice companion you've got there!

  13. Depends on my mood. I too must have background noise. Listening to music is relaxing to craft by. Sometimes I turn on the tv for noise and come to think of it, I wonder why? Cos I sure don't watch while I'm crafting.

  14. I do enjoy watching tv as I knit. However many patterns don't allow me to split my concentration so, in practice, I typically knit in absolute silence and I find that very soothing.

  15. I like watching tv shows on my computer while I knit. Right now I'm working my way through Season 1 of Angel. :)
