Strike While the Iron is Hot

I haven't felt much like sewing garments lately - so I've been knitting and doing craft sewing. Don't get me wrong - I love the crafting sewing, but garment sewing is my first love. So this afternoon while I was finally running my errands - picking up fresh fruits and veggies and rounding out the meat in the freezer. I started thinking about a pretty summer dress pattern and a piece of pink floral fabric that had been in the cupboard since right around the time The Princess was born (trust me - that's a long time ago). As soon as I had dealt with the food, I left the car in the driveway - believe it or not, we actually park in the garage. Anyway - JB had offered to vacuum my car as I was leaving. I made some comment about how I'd like to get done while I still had some day. I had enough day left to iron the fabric and pattern tissue. To cut out the dress and bodice lining, I may still cut a lining for the skirt. and to construct the bodice. Tomorrow morning, I'll be constructing the skirt and checking to see if I have a suitable zipper. Hopefully, by this week's knit night - I'll have a fun new summer dress. The pattern is Butterick 5028, and I think it might be almost as old as the fabric.

Light and Fresh

First, let me say that I am not a fan of most beverages other than flavored vodka, water, coffee and tea. I generally leave the vodka consumption for a rare evening beverage. Coffee in the mornings, tea in the evenings and water all day long. But for some reason yesterday, I was tired of coffee (I know!) and didn't want to drink water. So I filled a glass container with hot water from the insta hot and dropped a couple of the Pomegranate White Tea bags from Chan. I just loved how the water looked as the tea started to steep and stain it. After it was all done - I poured it into a crystal pitcher that doesn't often see the light of day. Prior to pouring the lovely red liquid into the pitcher, I filled it with ice.
Next, I found a matching crystal glass. These pretty dishes are one of the few items I still have from an old life. They were purchased during my first marriage when we lived in England. For several years we used the glasses as our everyday drink wear, but they started having to be thrown out due to chips, I put them away and now only use them occasionally. They do make a pretty beverage seem even more delicious.
This pomegranate white tea - iced was very light. It was a refreshing change from water and totally did the job of quenching my thirst. And it's hard to tell, but it's a beautiful pink!

Melly Rocks!

So today is Friday. Many of you know that I don't work Friday. Well that's not totally true, I work alternating Fridays and the Fridays I work are payday so it's all good. Anywho - I'm sitting in the living room this morning, watching shows on the DVR and knitting. When the mailman shows up. He doesn't pull all the way to the mailbox and is outside moving stuff around in the mail truck for awhile. Finally Lucy notices him and goes nuts, because by now he's walking to the front door. So, I get up and Abby and I go outside to talk to Keith. He hands me the mail, which includes an envelope from Melly. I visit Melly's blog, but being the bad blogger that I am, I have rarely commented. I know she's visited me, because she's good and leaves comments. Anywho -- inside the envelope is this super cute notepad. I mean really, how cute is that? The note says that Cami asked her to make me one of her matchbook notepads. Imagine my surprise when I clicked on Melly's papercraft labels and my notebook is pictured right there! Oh Melly - I love it! Thank you, thank you, thank you. This photo is for Cami. I was chatting with her the other evening as I was getting home from work and she was putting her family to bed. It was the kind of conversation that rattles around and you talk about everything - I mentioned that I only had 3 blueberries on my new plants and JB made some comments to which Cami mentioned that she thinks she might have a crush on him (go warn her about him Jess). Anywho - here are the 3 blueberries. Only 2 really show in the photo and only one is ripe. I think I'll leave it there for awhile.
