SMASH

Do you Watch?
I LOVE SMASH!

The costumes are fabulous
Unfortunately, I don't have Angie's mad skills for grabbing outfit photos.
There is one dress Ivy wears that is a dead ringer for Vogue 8728

In Ivy's dress the body is a cute red cherry print on a white background and that gathered bodice?
Solid red.  Adorable.  I want.

Orange Box Jewelry

My friend Anna, has a friend, Krissy who makes jewelry.

When I got the current issue of Vogue Knitting, it was not a knitting pattern that caught my attention, but rather the necklace shown on page 87.  I loved it, I wanted it from the first glance.  But this mag is about knitting - not fashion accessories, so how would I get it?

Well - I took the mag to Krissy and told her I wanted it.  She looked at me, looked at where the necklace fell and said it will be ready next week.

The next Saturday I went back to the Edmonds Market to see Krissy.  She handed me a little box and inside was my new favorite necklace.  It's fabulous.  Identical to the one in the magazine.  It is one necklace and there is a little key on the back closure as well.  I didn't hang the necklace on Lou very well, but normally all the strands hange more twisted together.  Each chain is different and there are even several different chains on the single chain side.

I love it.  You can have one too - if you contact Krissy.  This is my second piece of orange box jewelry - the first is made of vintage pieces.  Neither was horribly expensive.

I Want This!!

On St. Patrick's Day, Channon posted about her dogs and the wearing of the green. She commented on how Lilly Pulitzer needed to do a Pank and Green line of dog accessories. Well I followed her links (the LP link will take you to the dog accessories) and then checked out the home page. This fabulous white daisy lace dress is on the front page of the women's section. OMG!! Love it. Probably not in white because I would have coffee down my front before I could even get out of the house. But isn't is fantastic? It's also almost $400 - not in my life.
Last weekend I purchased 2 new Simplicity patterns. I've long been wanting a simple sheath dress that I can make into a TNT and manipulate the heck out of ala Carolyn. I got 2648 and 2404. I think 2404 is a better starting point with the higher waist than 2648. But the problem is I don't know where to find the fabric or anything even remotely similar.
Chan very nicely did a google search and after looking through pages of narrow trims, she sent me an email saying when you google "daisy lace" you end up getting fancy underthings! So - any suggestions folks? I really, really want this dress (please don't tell me I'm too old to wear it).s

Inspiration

Carolyn first introduced me to Barrie Pace. Since then I've been getting their catalog in the mail. Last night saw a 'sale' catalog delivered. These are just a few of the dresses that I am in love with. Must figure out how to make:

I just love this dress. It's available in pink and green. It's organza with cotton dots and is fully lined. Unfortunately, I really don't have anywhere to wear such a pretty party dress.

This is a Maggy London knit dress. I like the contrast band and the little bit of contract at the shoulders. The contrast should emphasis a waist, right? But what about those gathers - good with a belly or no?
When Carolyn speaks of embellishments she always says add it in 3s. Well - how's this for a third place? I love that - just above the hem. Will definitely have to do that!
Just a couple of basic shirtdresses. With my love of the shirtdress this Spring/Summer (Seattle late Winter), I am just really drawn to these two. Also thanks to Carolyn, I now have two great shirtdress patterns winging their way to me. Happy Sewing everyone - what's inspiring you?
