Share the Love

I believe in pointing our good customer service.  And what I received was not good customer service - but above and beyond excellent.  And I want to share the love with one of you.

Pamela's Magic Pencil Skirt
First - the back story.  Earlier this month, inspired by the skirts I'd seen around blogland, I ordered Pamela's Magic Pencil Skirt.  And then I waited and waited.  Honestly - we all know when a woman (and one who sews at that) has decided she wants something, we don't wait very patiently.

Finally, on Monday, Oct. 15th, I emailed Pamela and asked where my pattern was.  Turns out that Pamela had been away teaching so it didn't get mailed until October 8th.  But still - it was the 15th and I still didn't have the pattern in my hot little hand and anyone who follows me on Instagram knows the 'sewjo' is hot right now!

Pamela emailed me on Tuesday.  We emailed back and forth on Tuesday and ultimately Pamela said she would put another pattern in the mail - she offered, I did not ask.  Of course my pattern turned up Tuesday night.  I very quickly emailed Pamela and said it's here.  If you haven't sent the replacement - please don't.  She replied, I'm taking this directly from her email:  "Of course it went out already - haha! I also included some Fantastic Elastic for you as well. So maybe you could give the extra pattern to a sewing friend and work on them together! Let me know how you like the pattern."

So - I have an extra copy of the Magic Skirt pattern that I'm happy to share with one lucky blog reader.  I'll send the pattern anywhere.  Just let me know you are interested.  I'll close the give away on Oct. 30 and draw one lucky winner on the 31st for a nice treat for someone.

And for the record - I WILL be ordering from Pamela again - I have no idea how her pattern will work for me - but her customer service is above and beyond and that deserves my repeat business.   How do you reward excellent customer service?

  1. I like to read about good customer service because it is almost non-existent anymore.

The skirt is darling, but I'll pass on the giveaway. Thanks for offering it to your readers.

  2. Really cute skirt, and who doesn't love a good customer service story?

Of course, there's no need to enter me in the contest either... ;)

  3. Hello G! :) I'm glad to hear re the good customer service you got. I always try to avoid having to deal with them (weird but my heart always race a bit when i have to do this), but when you don't have any choice in the matter, it's heartening to get a kind person on the other side of the telephone, and even greater to get excellent respond to your request!

I know I have too many patterns already (and I am working on that by having a giveaway also), but I would love to enter for this Pamela's skirt pattern! :D

  4. ah, so nice to hear good customer service stories - they're so few and far between, aren't they ?
The mojo is coming back, but slowly, so I won't put my name in the draw, but I'm sure whoever gets it is going to love it !

  5. Please do include me in your's and Pamela's generous pass-it-on opportunity! How lovely to hear you were able to speak to the person herself! You are doing small-businesses a good turn, and they in turn look after their customers. Thanks for sharing the positivity with blog-land!

  8. Hooray for excellent customer service, especially when the mojo is running! I'd love to be entered in your drawing, too.

And when customer service is good, I return over and over. Since Pamela cared that much about satisfying you, she deserves repeat business.

  11. This is one reason I enjoy buying from indy sellers ~ it so much more personal and caring! Love that skirt but I can't sew :( I am however plodding along on a knit skirt and I'm presently at the stage where I'm beginning to wonder why my "gauge" and what's happening on my needles isn't adding up LOL Have a great weekend Gaylen ~

  12. That is a cool looking Skirt! I have been thinking I wanted a pencil skirt and was worried about making myself one, but might just be able to pull it off with hand-holing from the pattern designer and a friend.

  13. After years in retail management where I tried hard to deliver good customer service, I always say "Thank you for such great customer service". If it is in a store I make a point to compliment a supervisor and yes it makes me a loyal customer both in person and online.
I would love to be entered in your drawing.

  14. Awesome! I have this pattern already, so don't add me to the giveaway! But we could totally have a sew-a-long now. I ordered her Perfect Tee and the Magic Pencil Skirt AND the elastic. So...when do you want to start?? Hmmmm??? ;)

  15. That is great service! Looking forward to seeing your version...I've heard so much about that pattern but haven't been able to put the concept of a pencil skirt on my body yet. So I guess I'll throw my name in the hat, too...maybe I'll be surprised! ;-)

  19. I have also had a great experience with Pamela.

I blogged (and put on PR) my success with the PP banded cardi and all the things I loved about it. I sent a link to the review to Pamela's Patterns because I was so pleased with the way it turned out.

Pamela emailed me back and said that they had experienced a rise in orders for it and assumed someone had blogged about it. In return for my positive comments she offered a free PP pattern of my choice - how cool is that!

I appreciate you coming to see me. It may take me a bit to publish your comment - but I will get to them by the end of every day. If you leave a way for me to get back to you, I will. Thanks for taking the time to comment and share your opinions. g
