I'm Nooked

One day last summer while we were camping, I decided it might be nice to have an e-reader of some sort, but I wasn't sure which sort I wanted.  I mean there is the Nook Color, Kindle, iPad, Kindle Fire and the Nook Tablet.

So I mentioned to JB that it would be nice to have.  He remembered and got me a gift card to Barnes and Noble for Christmas.  The dogs, however, bought me a Nook Tablet.

It took me a few days to buy some books and a few more to try reading them.  I've downloaded Angry Birds Seasons, played sudoku (I'm not very good), checked my email, side loaded knitting patterns and even started reading a book.  I originally wanted it to be able to read while I was knitting and didn't have access to a tv - but with this - I have access to my netflix account and can watch tv while I'm knitting!  Or even read.

Last weekend when we were looking at the Eagles, I was able to bring my knitting pattern up and could work on a complex pattern long after it would have been too dark to read a pattern.  So far, I'm loving it.  So - do you e-book?  Can you be my friend?

  1. I have had a Nook since March. I enjoy it so much since I can travel and take 50 books, and can check the internet while at the coffeeshop. I didn't expect to like it nearly as much as I do. I also live in a fairly remote place and like being able to download books as soon as the come out, rather than having to wait til I get to a big bookstore or ask my local store to order them in.
I didn't think of sideloading knitting patterns, although I have read about/considered putting some recipes on there for when we are camping. Enjoy

  2. Awesome! Isn't technology great? I bought a Kindle last summer and Sara was so enamored with it that I got her a Kindle Touch for Christmas and Bryce a Kindle Fire. Do you play "Words with Friends"? Warning...very addictive! Enjoy your Nook!

  3. I accepted your Nook friend request as soon as I got it... but you know that. ;)

I don't love Angry Birds. What's the appeal?

  4. Lucky you - a new toy - enjoy !

I love my iPod Touch and use it all the time. 'Some people' have informed me that I'm addicted, but I deny all such comments LOL. Hubby asked if I wanted a tablet or reader but then I'd have to carry a bag all the time - the Touch fits in my jeans pocket :-)

  5. I think that, if I was going to get something like this, I'd want it mainly for knitting patterns. A knitting buddy has an iPad and that's her primary use.

  7. I love my Fire. I check email and play Angry Birds and do so many things but I haven't read a book on it yet. I am reading a book on my other Kindle so I guess that's the same thing really.

  8. You know we got a Kindle Fire. I've read a few books on it, but haven't tried any of the other wireless apps on it. I do have about 25 books downloaded, all free, some of which have been good, and some have been not so good, but I can see where it would be handy for travel. It's also great for reading while my guys watch football games on TV, because the screen is lit, but you knew that, right? So, can a Kindle and a Nook be friends?

  9. I find this interesting. I do not have ANY electrical devices. You heard right... no cell phone, ipod, blackberry, ereader, no nothing. But Steve has encouraged me to get an e-reader so I like hearing that yours is working out so well for you!

  10. Hubband surprised me with an iPad last summer for out anniversary, so I have both the Nook and Kindle app on it. I do like reading on it, but LOVE it for knitting patterns! Email, games, etc are all a great bonus as well. Oh, and I got to have a video Skype with DTY on it at some point after her accident so that made this mama very happy to "see" her in person!

  11. I've got one of the original Kindles (don't get me started on how much I paid for one *right before* they dropped the prices by $200....arrrrgh!!!) and an iPad. I prefer the iPad for reading because I can see everything in color. What can I say...I like looking at the pretty book jackets. :)
