In the Mail

Not to me this time, but from me to Camilla as a shop sample for Clementine's Dry Goods. This was a super easy top to make. Only the front is lined. All the shaping comes from the drawstring in the front and the elastic across the back I don't quite understand this type of top. I mean - what do you wear with it? It's so full at the bottom that I'm thinking you need something slim. So would you pair it with skinny jeans, shorts, or a straight skirt? Also - looking at the photo - it would appear that I lucked out with the placement of the large circles in the print. It felt so good to get back into the sewing room. Miss C - going out in the mail to you today. Hope it fits. If not, bring more fabric and we'll do it again :)

  1. I really like that top. I'd wear it with straight leg jeans or shorts in white or black or even that pinky color in there.

  2. I'd never show that much skin... ever... but the print is pretty!

  3. It is a very pretty top. I would wear it with a skinny figure...since I don't have one, I wouldn't wear it. If I did I would probably incur questions like "So when is your baby due?" LoL!

  4. It is awesome fabric! I agree about what would you wear with it, but also with Chan on I wouldn't show that much skin. Well, I would have when I was 20, but not pushing fifty.

  5. I'd leave it to today's "youngsters". I've never been big on that shape for a top, but on a skinny girl with a skinny skirt or jeans, I guess it would be fine. I like your bow, and the print is nice, although I see your circle placement comment!

  6. oooooo....love the fabric! I said that last week, but the top, maybe on Emily (tall, thin, 20 something). With skinny jeans or capris.
If I wore it, like Tina said, someone would think I would be ready for the maternity ward. UGH!

I think it would make a cute tote or something like that.

LOL! That circle placement could have been, shall we say, embarrassing. Good job on the pattern placement.

  9. It's very cute - love the fabric. I'd never wear it, but perhaps 20 years ago I would have considered it. It definitely needs to be paired with something slim on the bottom to balance the fullness of the top.
