Studio Update

Hmm - calling the space where I sew a "studio" sounds so pretentious. But . . . In the ongoing attempt to keep the dogs out of the "studio," JB had the great idea of using a folding screen to close the opening of the space. So this past weekend we went shopping. This is what we came up with. That heavy black line is actually a shelve. From the other side, this is what I see when I'm inside the studio. This is called the accessory screen from Cost Plus and I like it. It's lightweight, which is important because I have to move it to get in and 'close' the door when I leave. It has a shelve (which we put on the outside, a metal basket, 3 hooks, and a hanging set of rods. From the rods I hung some fabric that was hanging around. The bottom two you have seen before - they are for a new knitting bag, and the top 3 pieces plus the trim shown are for another apron ~~ this time for Miss C who mocked the color choices when I was describing them.

  1. Did the screen come already assembled like that, or did your handy-dandy hubby make it? (As in taking the raw materials and designing it in his workshop as opposed to assembling it out of a box.) What a cool screen. Can you replace the white panels with a different color fabric?

  3. And I have no idea why my comment posted twice. Seems Blogger has changed their comment authority crap.

  4. Your fabric looks lovely hanging from the screen. What a nice way to display your "next project in the works."

  5. I love those screens!

BTW, is that JUMBO rick-rack or is that just a close up of the trim?

  6. It's JUMBO rick-rack... she's trying to kill me! I am *so* wearing that apron everywhere, and passing out little cards with your blog addy on them, Miss G. But, actually, the fabrics all look pretty, hanging there on the screen. How does it prevent the larger four-pawed babies from just pressing their way in to the sewing room? My dog is a moose and would just shove it over.

  7. Yeah, good question Camilla...how do you keep them out?
As for calling it a studio...i like that...has a bit more authority than "craft room". I am going to call mine the "studio" now, too.

  8. The screens are a great idea. Looks so pretty to have the fabrics and trim hanging there. The color of your 'walls' will change frequently. What a cool idea.
There's no way a screen would keep Sunny away from me and she's half the size of Beau or Lucy! She opens some closed doors.

  9. I don't think calling the space where you sew a "studio" is pretentious at all...oh, wait a minute, maybe that's because I call *my* sewing space a sewing studio, LOL!

Love the screen idea! Functional and cute.
