They Should Come With a Warning Label

My friends say that they do - but I think I missed it.

See - 2 weeks ago when we got home from work, Dudley was having trouble breathing and he didn't eat his dinner.  See - Dudley is a food hound and has never missed a meal in his life.  We ended up taking him to the er and were told that he had lymphoma.  It was very sad - at the time the e-vet didn't know how much time we had left with him.

We chose to put him on mega doses of prednisone and pain pills.
He wasn't doing very well with the pain pills, so with our vet's blessing we took him off he pain pills.  He's doing much, much better.  He's eating and barking again.  He's getting up and down the stairs by himself and he's tolerating the meds well.

We've increased his kibble and decreased the pred just a tiny bit.  We don't know how much longer we have with him - but we are loving him every single minute that we have.  To those who know - thank you so much for all the well wishes and the asks of how he's doing - I really appreciate your support and concern.

  2. I made it through without misting up any more than I already had over a Fathers Day post, but that three-way snuggle photo is perhaps the sweetest thing EVER.

Smoochies for my Dudders, and the rest of the pack, just because...

  3. Hello!
I was so sad to read about Dudley's lymphoma diagnosis! I'm glad he is eating and getting up and down the stairs much better than he was before. Since I'm around dogs all the time I hear about their illnesses constantly and I'm wondering if you've ever taken Dudley to a holistic vet. From what I've heard, they heal through the use of natural remedies and organic diets. I know of several cats and dogs who's lives have been lengthened because of natural remedies. You may be doing this already for Dudley but I thought I'd pass along my thoughts just in case! Good luck with Dudley!

  4. Is that Baby Abbey in the one picture?

I guess sometimes we need these reminders to cherish our furkids every day. Overlook the naughty stuff, it's all minor. Hold them, talk with them and play with them. They don't hang around nearly long enough.

  5. So hard to see a loved one sick. It is good that you are focusing on the positive. Good luck and I hope he has a long time left.

  8. oops, by the time I was ready to hit SEND, my brain was elsewhere & I thought you referenced a manual rather than the warning label - mine could use one of those, too !

  12. I know exactly how you feel when one of your furbabies is sick...but when you get a diagnoses like that...words escape me.

  18. You have my heartfelt sympathy. The best you can do is try and get through each day without breaking down. Give Dudley a little extra lovin' from me.
