Broccoli Woccoli

We grew broccoli this year. First time ever! Apparently it really loved the very wet Spring that Seattle experienced. However, it's a touchy veggie. One day it had a lovely tight crown and the next - little yellow flowers. Being the heathen that I am - I still chopped it down, pulled the little yellow flowers off, sauteed it with garlic on night and roasted it the next. It was tasty.

  2. I'd eat it, too, especially after all the work you had in getting JB to grow it! Maybe I'll try growing broccoli next year, too.

  3. I agree, I'd eat it too! Do you think home grown is better than the grocery store.

  4. Was it tastier than the store bought stuff? We eat a lot of broccoli, but I'd never try to grow it here. The weather and the bugs in this place discourage any gardening.

  5. I would have definitely eaten it too. My veggie garden is not dfoing so great this year partly due to the raccoons that just won't leave anything alone!

  6. Beautiful! Me, I grew broccoli once. Just once. I picked a small bit and chomped on what I expected would be the best raw broccoli ever, and it tasted weirdly metallic. Huh? I picked some more and cooked it--at which point the little flower heads popped open to show a tiny bug in each. Never again!
