It's the Same Ol' Song

I have inspiration - I have desire, but I have no time or energy to sew.
For example - I love this Coldwater Creek dress, but I refuse to pay the price they want.
First - it's a basic shirtdress silhouette.
Now here's my problem - I don't have a shirtdress pattern that fits me. And I want new clothes - not days spent making muslins that don't fit. Frustrating!
This too shall pass and maybe I'll sew again.

  1. I wish I had an easy solution for you...that dress is gorgeous. The only thing I can say is that CWC has some amazing sales sometimes and I will be watching for that dress to show up in the online outlet!!!

  3. That's pretty! Do you have a princess seamed dress you can start with? It looks like it has those kind of lines. I'd send you mine, but we're not the same size. Sorry. But I think I have something similar, so I'll dig around and see what I can find for a suggestion.

  4. A shirtdress is an easier sew than a sheath dress. All of those princess seams make it easy to alter. You could cut it out a size too large and stitch it down. You could do this, this weekend and I could help you via email and phone it is that simple!

  5. I don't wear halter dresses, but I've admired the solid colored of the same design in the same catalog.

Can't help with the sewing part, but you knew that already.

  6. Watch the outlet. I've gotten some unbelievable pieces on sale. I'll let you know if I see it.

  7. Oooh...I love Coldwater Creek, but I have the same problem with the prices. What's this outlet that everyone is talking about?

  8. That dress is fabulous, I love the details in the straps crossing!

Have you tried it on. If it fits, I say splurge for it. It's going to stress you to no end to try and duplicate it, and get the right fit, so why not just treat yourself?!

WWMJS (What would Mr. Jay Say?) It's only money, you can't take it with you when you die!

Plus once you have it, maybe you can better see how you might go about constructing another one for yourself!
